This weekend was fantastic. I went to the beach, swam a bit, spent time with good friends and ate tasty desserts (homemade peach pie and s'mores brownies!). I love summer when it includes things like that!

Sometimes simple combinations like black and white make my heart flutter. The two colors together produce a beautiful, classy combination. The red belt is the perfect pop of color when it comes to this type of white and black ensemble.  Have a Fantastic Tuesday! xoxo Jess

Four Cities Tour in Souvenirs (and Such) Part II and III

The second and third stop on my Four Cities tour was Washington, D.C. and Gettysburg respectively. I've been to D.C. once before in eighth grade and absolutely loved it. I’m a history person so D.C. is always a great place to be. We performed at the Old Post Pavilion, had a moonlight tour of the monuments, went to the zoo (pandas!!!), visited the Holocaust museum, the Natural History museum, got rained on and took a hike to get dinner. D.C. was a very eventful and fun place!

Gettysburg, our next stop, was interesting to say the least. We were there on the 30th of June and 1st of July. On our first night there we went on a family friendly ghost tour and then a few of us proceeded to do a séance. (For those of you have no idea what a séance is, here is the Wikipedia link-ours was a theatrical recreation but it was still scary and cool!) The 1st of July, our second day there, marked the 150th anniversary of the start of the battle of Gettysburg. We toured the battle grounds that day!
D.C. Souvenirs and Such: Washington, D.C. coffee cup, keychain (inside this is a picture of the capital building and the Washington monument)* and a D.C. Metro Ticket.

*Note my birthday was June 14th and due to the Four Cities Trip my family was unable to celebrate with me so a month and a week later they finally were able to do so.*
As I write this the only word I can think of to describe my feelings toward today is happy. I feel that it's entirely inadequate but it's honestly how I feel. I've had a smile plastered over my face for the last few hours and my heart is dancing to a song that only fairies could muster up. The thing is today wasn't really planned out to be extraordinary, in fact quite the opposite was planned. But bit by bit today turned out to be extraordinary all due to the people who graced me with their presence. Thank you, all of you, for making an ordinary day extraordinary.

Little White Dress

I am a lover of summertime. It's warm, it's almost always gorgeous out, people seem to be kinder and I don't have to go to school. Who doesn't love all that? Probably only crazy people. But that's not my point. My point is that with all the warmth that has been happening I've been gravitating toward light colored cotton pieces of clothing. This little white dress is a perfect example of that. A white dress is practical for staying cool and works well when the time comes to transition. I love that mine has adorable little embroidered rectangles. It makes the dress so pretty.

Feelin' Oh So 60s

The other night I was browsing through Carrie's (Wish Wish Wish) archives and came across her beehive tutorial. I've loved the look of the beehive but never really seemed to master it. I still can't say that I've mastered it but I definitely have got a better understanding of how I can do it and what I can do to improve it. These pictures were taken later in the day at about 6pm so the beehive had been sitting in my hair all day and didn't budge (it did fall a bit but that was expected) and I really didn't have to mess with it much. (That  might be because of the 23-I counted-bobby pins I had stuck in my hair). I'd say that with a bit of practice this will become my new favorite updo!

When I was finished with my beehive I felt very 60s-esque so I decided to have a little fun with it. I straightened my fringe, put on some eyeliner, added some pearls, grabbed my cat eye sunglasses and donned a feminine polka dot dress. I really felt like I should have been in a slightly more modern 60s (my dress would not have fit the era). I loved this outfit and I really had fun with it!

Chambray With a Side of Bow

When I put this outfit on I was feeling kinda sad. I had woken up feeling that way so I decided to do what I always do when I wake up sad, get dressed. I've been doing this since 8th grade. I'd get dressed all pretty, take my time doing my makeup even though the probability of anyone seeing it was slim to none. But what made this outfit cheery to me was the bow belt. Something about just screamed happy. It's one of those quirky things that I own and love!

Dots on Dots

This outfit was actually thrown together while I was in D.C. during my trip. We had just been drenched in rain and the side of my pants (shorts) were soaking wet and these happened to be on top inside my suitcase.I threw the shorts on not really caring how they looked, grabbed my sandals and onto dinner I was. As dinner progressed I really fell in love with the outfit I had accidentally put together. I'm not usually one for mixing prints mainly because I'm always afraid of looking like I got dressed in the dark. I really loved how this turned out, what do you guys think? Love it? Hate it?
