What I'd Wear: Stripes & Bows

Today is my first day of spring break and I plan on doing nothing. Absolutely nothing, except watching movies, drinking tea and eating my new favorite snack (warm peaches with oats! Yum!) I think that the first day of break is the perfect day to do nothing.
Details: Striped Cardigan- J.Crew, Bow Skirt- Kate Spade, Mary Jane Shoes- J.Crew, Necklace- Modcloth Bracelet- Pink Pineapple
If I was doing something I'd love to wear this. I have a love affair with navy blue. It's such a versatile color that I can't help but return to it time after time. It's the perfect blue. And this little outfit here features three of my favorite things navy blue, bows and stripes. At first I wanted to keep the outfit in the blue and white color palette already established by many of the pieces but then I saw the mint statement necklace and thought it would go perfectly with the cardigan buttoned all the way. And it does, if I do say so myself. Also the Kate Spade skirt is like perfection but in a skirt!

Remixes

If this cardigan looks familiar it's because you've already seen it before. I wore it in this post and I'm not ashamed to say that I'm wearing again already. It's a great color, so soft, so comfy and the buttons are just amazing. I lost my other colorful, soft and comfy cardigan sometime late last year. Yeah, I have no idea how you lose a sweater but I did it. Ever since then I've been looking for one to replace it. I found this one at a thrift store and just had to jump on it, it's perfect. It's everything I was looking for.
This dress is also a piece I've remixed. I'm a fan of remixing since I don't have an endless budget or a huge closet. I'm always a huge fan of seeing other bloggers remix things because, to me, it makes them seem real and down to earth. It's actually funny, yesterday I was in English and a kid in the class told me that I had so many pieces of clothing. I then had to tell this kid that I actually have a quite small closet, I just remix a lot of the pieces. I'm sure the kid was baffled that I don't have a huge closet. Even my friends are when they see the size of my closet and what's in it. See, this is why I love remixing!

Aye Aye Captain!

There's snow on my lawn and it's also falling from the sky. I'm a little bummed out because tomorrow is the first day of spring. I want all this snow to be gone. I want warm days, clear blue skies and a delightful breeze. But unfortunately Mother Nature doesn't seem to agree. We're not talking anymore so if you happen to be on speaking terms with her could you please tell her to send spring my way? Please!
Today my outfit is apart of the Coast to Coast Challenge. Today's challenge was nautical and I had to jump on it. Recently I've become a huge fan of nautical things. I have a scarf with anchors on it and a dress that is a perfect nautical piece. I've mentioned before that my mother has always been a huge fan of nautical things and when I walked out of my room this morning she approved of this look. Which is rare so I'll take it. She and I are on diffecernt ends of the spectrum. While I love to wear jeans and a dressy shirt she loves sweat pants and a tee shirt 24/7. It makes me laugh sometimes. I'm so different than her yet we still find things that we both enjoy. Like nautical.
Well I'm off to finish homework. Then I'll grab a cup of tea and watch New Girl with Missy.

I'm Wearing:
Sweater: Thrifted
Shirt: Aeropostale [old]
Necklace: Don't Remember
Rings: Vintage | Gift
Jeans: Aeropostale
Shoes: Gift

Lingering Still

Remind me to never ever get sick again. I have a pile of work that is completely unmanageable on top of everything else I need to do. It's crazy! I was only out for two days, how much work can these people give?
This sweater is a result of some sick day thrifting my mom and I did. She was home and so was I so hitting up our local thrift store after stopping at a hardware store for some things she needed was a must. We do that a lot in our family. One of us will be sick enough to stay home from wherever we are supposed to be but turn around and we are out shopping. It makes no sense but I love it. My mom also bought me a very cute vintage nautical dress that I can't wait to wear on this adventure. So I guess being sick wasn't so bad but still remind me to never  get sick again.
I only have two other things to say. 1. I need to get my bangs cut. Like now. I've started pulling them back because they're annoying me. They're too long! 2. The Secret Life of The American Teenager starts back up again tonight. It's their final season and I'm sad yet excited to see how everything is going to play out. Me and my brother's girlfriend watch this show and have really long Facebook wall chats. It's great I love it. (And her too!)

I'm Wearing:
Shirt: Hollister [old]
Sweater: Thrifted
Jeans: Garage

Spring Wishlist

I've been sick for the past two day and I thought that this would be a great time to share my spring wishlist since I won't be getting "dressed up" for a day or two.

Spring is a beautiful season full of the most beautiful colors. My favorite thing about spring has got to be the colors. The pretty pastels are everywhere and it's gorgeous. So it only makes sense that they'd creep their way into my wardrobe. Another amazing thing about spring is bare legs! Although I don't don tights every time I slip on a dress I wear them enough to get sick of them come spring. So I say bye-bye to tights and hello to bare legs!
Buy These Spring Pieces: One\Two\Three\Four\Five\Six\Seven\Eight\Nine
Although I completely adore everything, my ultimate wants from this wishlist are the Yacht Party Dress from Ruche, the Monday's Best Cardigan from Modcloth, Dear Creature's Sweet Caroline dress from Emerging Thoughts and Kate Spade's Things We Love coffee table book. What's on your spring wishlist? xoxo Jess.

Who's That Girl?

It's Jess!
I'm a huge fan of Zooey Deschanel. If you've seen this fashion inspiration post then you already know that. But in case you haven't seen that post I'll gladly tell you why I love Zooey. She's spunky, she's got this personality that automatically makes you love her. She's so not afraid of being who she really is, "I'm just being myself. There is not an ounce of me that believes any of that crap that they say. We can't be feminine and be feminists and be successful? I want to be a fucking feminist and wear a fucking Peter Pan collar. So fucking what?" I think I love that the most about her. She's in the public eye and is bound to get critisim but she doesn't let it get to her. She continues life without batting an eyelash, I love it. She's also got an incredible fashion sense, the women knows what looks good on her and rocks it.
Zooey's incredible fashion sense is what led me to today's outfit and hair. While I was watching New Girl I fell in love with Zooey's outfit in the specific episode I was watching. It's not hard to do. Trust me, I speak from experience. But I forgot about it for awhile and then just happened to remember it yesterday. So when I went to my closet last night and saw this dress that I bought last June hanging there I knew what I was going to be wearing. It has a darling peter pan collar and the prettiest color combination ever. My hair is inspired by this picture, I love the volume that it has and I love that my hair totally cooperated today so I was able to achieve this look. It's so fun and voluminous, I'm obsessed with it.
Today winter-like weather crept it's way back in. I really just wish it was spring now. I can't wait until next Wednesday, it'll be officially spring then and hopefully the weather will start agreeing with that statement. I need spring weather. I can't dress for winter anymore, I just can't do it!! Anybody else feeling this way?
  I'm Wearing:

  Belt: Stiches
